Why blog?

A "list three reasons you blog and pass it on to three more bloggers" meme is doing the rounds and I've been tagged by The Editor. So here are my three motivations for blogging:

1. I have an opinion on every-bloody-thing and love the chance to get it off my chest. Well, that used to be the case, anyway, when I was grumpily blogging at Leftvegdrunk. These days I am a little more chilled out (that is, old).

2. When I was backpacking, and then while living in Indonesia, blogging was a good way to stay in touch with the gang back home. I didn't want to just hit everyone's inbox with a boring group email; I preferred to write a boring blog post and let people log in and read as they choose.

3. I enjoy writing. I should be doing more of it, of course. When I'm not studying (as I am now) I find that the challenge of digesting news and providing my own perspective and analysis is a good way of keeping the old cogs ticking over and getting my brain noise under control.
