What would your poster say?

Tofu Notes is about to go into deep freeze on account of other priorities. Before that happens, though, I would like some suggestions from my reader(s) concerning appropriate protest messages for banners to be displayed when the Olympic torch comes through Canberra.

So use the comment button and hit me with your ideas: what should my message to the Chinese government (and anyone who happens to see my banner on telly) be? Or do you reckon protesting is silly and if so why? The banner will be in english and Mandarin.

I got a great powerpoint the other day about the deeper meaning of the beijing olympics logo. if u leave ur address somewhere, I can forward it to you. not sure if you can put it on a banner, though, but it might give some (gruesome) inspiration!

oh, and if we havent met yet - i was also working in afghanistan and know vasco from blogging... been outta touch for a while but still alive, and back to checking both your blogs :-)

Sounds interesting! I only recently pulled my email address off here on account of some unwanted correspondence, so hit me with it at doyle dot damian at gmail dot com. Good to hear from you!

Just don't make the protest violent.

It's easy to dicredit a cause when its believers resort to illegal activities.

G'day, Leon. You'll be pleased to know that, despite some provocation from the rowdier members of the pro-Beijing crowd, the Tibetan protesters and their supporters maintained their commitment to nonviolence. In fact, I was surprised by the amount of restraint shown in the face of sometimes nasty provacateurs (whom the police quickly nabbed). Having monks on hand no doubt helped.
