The United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, is doing something about. In Côte d'Ivoire, UNICEF is undertaking a project that will help unregistered children get the piece of paper they need to have a chance at an education and a decent job. That's good news for hundreds of thousands of kids.

Some good news about that piece of paper
A little while back I wrote about the problems that poor kids face when they don't have a birth certificate: they lack access to education, health, and other services, and are vulnerable to exploitation. The issue had got a bit of attention in the Aussie media and it reminded me of some of the kids I'd encountered in Nairobi last year. It's a problem that impacts upon millions of young people around the world.
